FDA approves fluid warming device
HOUSTON, Tex.—EMIT Corp. announced that it has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance to market the HypothermX™ HX100 device.
The HypothermX™ HX100 device is a patent protected portable fluid warming device designed to warm intravenous fluids, blood or blood products infused into a patient to prevent or treat trauma, environmental, procedure related, or induced hypothermia. Heating is accomplished via a flameless hydrocarbon combustion process.

PLANON Software launches IWMS apps
Baltimore, MD—Planon Software, a leader in facilities management solutions, unveils its Work Order Management app, delivering powerful IWMS solutions right to a user’s fingertips, anywhere anytime.
The Work Order Management App is part of a suite of apps that Planon is beta testing and will be included in its next major release. New functionality will enable cross-mobile platforms, including iPhone, Android and BlackBerry devices.
“The work order management app gives facilities managers the ability to control onsite both preventative and reactive maintenance through their smart phones and tablets,” says Jasper van de Luijtgaarden, North American General Manager. “Planon is investing heavily in integrating mobile technology into IWMS solutions.”

EMCOR buys USM
NORWALK, Conn.—EMCOR Group, Inc. announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire USM Services Holdings, Inc., a provider of facilities maintenance solutions in North America, from Transfield Services Limited in an all-cash transaction for $255 million, representing $225 million for the base USM business plus $30 million for the net present value of a USM tax benefit.
Transfield Services Limited is an Australian-based global provider of operations, asset management and project management services. The transaction is expected to close towards the end of June, subject to customary closing conditions. EMCOR will use available cash to finance the acquisition.

Michael Walsh joins Allsteel
MUSCATINE, Iowa—Allsteel Inc. has appointed Michael Walsh as Government Territory Manager of the Northeast region, with responsibility for developing contract sales to federal agency accounts in the metro-New York, Tri-State and New England areas.
Michael Walsh comes to Allsteel Inc. with an extensive sales and marketing background in the contract furniture industry. For the past 7 years, he was a Regional Manager with OEI (Original Equipment Industries), handling UNICOR sales to the federal government. Prior to that, he held a similar position at the Government Marketing Group. His previous experience also includes sales management roles at Gordon International and at Northwood. Michael Walsh is based in New Jersey.
